Fra molto, molto tempo
Long, Long Hence
After a long, long course, hundreds of years, denials,
Accumulations, rous’d love and joy and thought,
Hopes, wishes, aspirations, ponderings, victories, myriads of readers,
Coating, compassing, covering—after ages’ and ages’ encrustations,
Then only may these songs reach fruition.
Dopo un lungo, lungo corso, centinaia di anni, rinnegamenti,
accumulazioni, amore e gioia e pensiero destati,
speranze, desideri, aspirazioni, meditazioni, vittorie, miriadi di lettori,
che rivestono, che circondano, che coprono, dopo incrostazioni di età ed età,
soltanto allora questi canti potranno giungere a compimento.
