This Dust Was Once the Man
This dust was once the man,
Gentle, plain, just and resolute, under whose cautious hand,
Against the foulest crime in history known in any land or age,
Was saved the Union of these States.
Questa polvere fu un tempo l’uomo,
gentile, semplice, giusto e risoluto, sotto la cui mano prudente,
contro il crimine più turpe che la storia conosca in qualunque terra o età,
fu salvata l’Unione di questi Stati.
