Testo dell’edizione 1891–92

Let that which stood in front go behind,

Let that which was behind advance to the front,

Let bigots, fools, unclean persons, offer new propositions,

Let the old propositions be postponed,

Let a man seek pleasure everywhere except in himself,

Let a woman seek happiness everywhere except in herself.

Ciò che stava davanti vada dietro,

ciò che stava dietro avanzi davanti,

bigotti, sciocchi, persone impure, offrano nuove proposte,

le vecchie proposte siano rimandate,

un uomo cerchi il piacere ovunque tranne che in sé stesso,

una donna cerchi la felicità ovunque tranne che in sé stessa.
